I Am Her Person

This is a picture of me with my cat, Maddie, when she was a young kitten.

I love Maddie so much, even if she is
feisty,
strong-willed,
unpredictable,
short-tempered,
and
some would say
mean.

She is a one-person cat,
and I am that person.

She makes me laugh every day,
and makes me angry every day.

She does many weird and exasperating things,
but her favorite pastime is sitting inside things.

She especially loves boxes.

It doesn't matter the size

or the shape.

But when there isn't a box handy,
she makes do.

And it always makes me laugh and grab my camera.

A Christmas sleigh basket.

My weed cart in the garden.

The catnip planter on the porch.

The shoe bin.

The stryrofoam packaging from a lamp.

An empty gift basket.

A larger empty gift basket.

A waste basket.

Any basket, really.

A shopping bag.

A grocery bag.

A bubble-wrap bag.

A school bag.

A travel bag.

The bathroom sink.

Any bowl.

Even a lasagna pan.

She gets inside just about anything.

And sometimes she doesn't need walls at all.

I think it's important to feel loved, understood, and appreciated
by at least one person in this world.

I'm glad I can be Maddie's special person.
