For the first 50 years of my life, my perfectionist self mistakenly believed it was all about knowing more, getting it right, planning, attempting to prevent bad things from happening, and keeping all of my chicks in a row. It took me this long to discover that the JOURNEY is all that matters. This quote from Gilda Radner sums it all up:

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.

Color me Orange!

Ask anyone to name the color of a sunset and invariably the answer is "orange." The meaning of orange is inexorably linked to the sensations of radiant energy, heat and the glowing presence of the setting sun. The link between red and yellow, orange takes its traits from both. It is less passionate and intense than red, incorporating the sunny disposition of yellow.
The brightest tones of orange are seen as gregarious, fun-loving, high-energy. Cool orange simply does not exist. Everything about orange is luminous and hot. It is perceived as the hottest of all colors even more so than red because it takes its heat from two radiant sources, yellow and red.

From the above description of the color orange from the Pantone website,  orange is a pretty amazing color!  Again,  I had some fun taking pictures of orange things in my house.

Color me Green

For most people a green path leads inevitably to thoughts of nature. Mother Nature painted more green on earth than any other color. It is the hue of foliage, grass, and growing plants; of graceful sheltering trees, dappled meadows and clinging vines; the shade of forest and jungle. Green is so pervasive in nature that we never question it as a background for all other surrounding colors. Contrasting with purple pansies, pink azaleas, yellow daylilies, orange marigolds or red tulips (and any other color under the sun), leafy foliage greens are truly nature's perfect neutral.

I didn't write the above description.  I took it from the Pantone website.

The other day I entertained myself with my macro lens searching the house for colorful things.  Today I'd like to share my "green" pictures.  It might be difficult to figure out what some of the pictures are.  I will tell you at the end of the blog.  Enjoy green!

Kerry's Friends Have Flipped!

Just a fun treat for some of Kerry's friends.

They say people's faces are not symmetrical.  Here's proof!

Overall, I'd say Mel and Kaylee are the most symmetrical.  Jojo and Annie are not!

And here's one for you, Parker!

My Third Sister

After we were married, my husband and I didn't wait very long before trying to start a family. We both loved children.  Less than 2 years after we were married, we figured it was time.  God figured it wasn't.

A year and a half later, I was finally pregnant!  We were overjoyed!

Three months later our joy turned to anguish after an early miscarriage.

We were in the process of building a house at the time, so we focused on that and kept trying.  By the following summer, the house was nearing completion and there was still no baby.  We were happy about the house, but very discouraged otherwise.

It was springtime and the house across the street from ours was done.  Our neighbors-to-be had moved in and we noticed they had a beautiful little girl!  One day the mother came over to introduce herself to me.  Her name was Linda, her husband was Ron and their little girl was Katie.

By the end of our first conversation, we were both in tears.  I had poured my heart out to her and discovered they had struggled to have children too.  I left that day feeling comforted, knowing we were meant to be neighbors.

Over the past 23 years, Linda has done so much for me.

She was always there to listen and comfort me until our first child was born 3 years later.

She rejoiced in the birth of all of my children.
This picture is from my first baby shower.

She provided much needed support and advice during the early days of motherhood.

She took care of Adam when he was a baby so I was able to go back to work part-time.

She has been a mother to all of my children.  She is "Aunty Linda" to them!

Here she comforts Kerry on the first day of school in 2nd grade,
bringing a smile to a previously tearful face.

She has been my consultant on paint colors, carpet choices, and was a huge help last year when we renovated the kitchen.

She has lovingly cared for our pets, even when I knew that dogs were a little out of her comfort zone!

She has given me strength during times that I really needed strength.

She is ALWAYS there for me.  I can tell her anything and know that I won't be judged.  She understands how I feel, maybe even better than I do myself!  She lifts me, encourages me, gives me confidence.

Everyone needs a friend like Linda and I am so fortunate.

Someone said "Best friends are the siblings God forgot to give us."

I already knew.  Since our first conversation back in 1988, she has been my third sister and always will be!
